With Majestic Shivalik ranges as a back drop and bounded by the Royal Chitwan National Park of Nepal in the north and the river Gandak on the western side, Valmiki Nagar Tiger Reserve is located in the northern most part of the West Champaran District. It offers shelter for a beauty and peace seeker, with breathtaking views in a true wilderness and enchanting beauty of lush green vegetation. Impenetrable pristine and virgin forests cover an area of 880.70 square kilometres having diverse flora and fauna.The sprawling ecosystem is home to a huge variety of animals, birds and reptiles as it is known to have 53 species of mammals, 145 of birds, 26 of reptiles and more than 84 species of trees.The reserve is famous for its tigers and irrefutable pug marks of this ingenious animal is present everywhere, dotting the moist grounds of the terrain.
A symbol of Indo- Nepal friendship, Gandak Barrage offers an irrigation potential of 11.51 lakh hectares and is used to generate hydro-electricity as well.
